“Flat-out hilarious… dominated”

The 2021Broadway revival – which swapped the lead performer’s gender from male to female – won five more Tonys, including one for Best Revival of a Musical…it is lyric-heavy with some tricky music, but everyone handles it very well.

“Some of the vignettes are flat-out hilarious. The first features Sarah (Kathryn Allison) and Larry (Derrick Davis). Sarah’s very controlling, correcting just about everything Larry has to say. Larry has a drinking problem, while Sarah must marshal her willpower to avoid eating the brownie she offers to Bobbie. Their scene is dominated by Sarah demonstrating her jiu jitsu skills on Larry.”

“The memorable K Allison… physical comedy is top notch”

-WBUR

“The memorable K Allison portrays a hilarious Sarah. In her first full scene, Allison’s Sarah is clad in exercise gear showing off her commitment to fitness by kicking and stretching all over the living room. Allison’s physical comedy is top notch. She and her husband Harry (understudy Christopher DeAngelis on the day I attended), are abstaining — Sarah doesn’t eat sweets and Harry doesn’t drink. At least that’s what they’re trying to do, but when Bobbie shows up with bourbon and brownies, it drives them mad. Their abstention felt more like a nod to the existential restraint some might associate with adulting and partnership. But amid all the conversation about holding back, Sarah and Harry show some passion for one another.”

“Delightfully inhabited… good on Broadway but even better on tour”

The Washington Post

'“The gender-swapped ‘Company’ was good on Broadway but even better on tour…

One couple, delightfully inhabited by K Allison and James Earl Jones II, presents marriage as gateway to middle-aged malaise as both spouses give up their vices, cycle through new hobbies and prod at each other’s insecurities.”

“Standout… hilarious comedy sets the tone for the rest of the show”

-Click On Detroit

“But COMPANY is an ensemble show, with most of the cast on stage for much of it. Standouts include Kathryn Allison and James Earl Jones II as couple Sarah and Harry, whose hilarious physical comedy sets the tone for the rest of the show.”
